Welcome to SHRM Northshore Louisiana, a local chapter and recognized affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

I’m Tara Nichols, and I’m honored to serve as President as we begin a new two-year term. Our chapter recently rebranded from NSHRM to SHRM Northshore Louisiana — an important milestone achieved under the leadership of our immediate past president, Jen Hern. This change reflects our continued alignment with SHRM and our commitment to supporting HR professionals across the Northshore through education, connection, and leadership.

As a volunteer-led organization, our mission is to create a strong, inclusive community of professionals working together to grow personally and professionally. We strive to offer engaging, high-quality programming, with meetings that are SHRM and HRCI certified whenever possible.

During this term, our focus is on:

• Bringing members together through meaningful connection and team-building
• Delivering relevant, member-driven programming
• Increasing our involvement in the community with an emphasis on Inclusion, Workforce Development, and Student Development
• Creating more opportunities for members to get involved and lead

HR wears many hats—and HR isn’t always in your title. Whether you’re a CHRO, Office Manager, or supporting people operations in any capacity, you are welcome here. We invite you to join us at an upcoming meeting, event, or volunteer opportunity and be part of a community that learns, connects, and grows together.
